FOSS4G 2015 Academic Track

Academic Track

The FOSS4G 2015 Seoul Academic Track provides a strong basis for collaboration among researchers, developers, users, and practitioners carrying out research and development in the geospatial and the free and open source fields. We hope to offer academic abstracts describing the use of open source geospatial software and data, in and for scientific research, as well as academic endeavors to conceptualize, create, assess, and teach open source geospatial software and data. Academic Committee will make efforts to get selected abstracts published in reputed academic journals.

Review Process

Your contributions will be reviewed (double-blind) by a committee of geospatial experts, who will assess the abstracts on originality and academic rigour, as well as interest for the wider FOSS4G community. Authors of selected abstracts will be requested to submit full paper for conference proceedings by 15 Aug 2015. The submitted papers could be included as conference proceedings in the conference USB. Based on your presentation, as well as discussion with the editors, a final selection will be made, and a final round of editing will be undertaken. Full papers could be shortlisted for publication in academic journals that are planned to be brought out after FOSS4G Seoul 2015. As far as possible, the special issue in Academic journals can be published at least a month before FOSS4G 2016. In this way we hope to encourage and help especially early-stage researchers (PhD student, post-docs) to strive for high-quality papers.
