About FOSS4G
FOSS4G is the acronym for Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial. It is the annual recurring global event hosted by OSGeo since it’s inception in 2006. Its predecessors were rooted in the GRASS and MapServer communities and can be traced back to the beginning of this millennium. The annual FOSS4G conference is the largest global gathering focused on open source geospatial solution. FOSS4G brings together developers, users, decision-makers and businessmen from a broad spectrum of organizations and fields of operation. Through six days of workshops, presentations, discussions and code sprint, FOSS4G participants create effective and relevant geospatial products, standards, human networks and business opportunities.
FOSS4G has been held all over the world and draws attendees from over 80 countries. Portland, Oregon, USA hosted the conference in 2014. FOSS4G 2015 will be held at Seoul, Korea for the first time in Asia.

The Open Source Geospatial Foundation was founded to support and build the highest-quality open source geospatial software. The foundation’s goal is to encourage the use and collaborative development of community-led projects, data development and education. OSGeo Korean Chapter was established in 2008 to promote open source GIS solutions and open geo data for Korean speaking people. About KSIS(Korea Spatial Information Society)
KSIS is one of the biggest and the most prominent academic societies in Korea in the field of geospatial with members of professors, researchers, professionals, government officials, and student. KSIS publishes its own top notch journal and hosts conferences regularly. About KAOS-G(Korea Alliance of Open Source Geospatial)
KAOS-G is a commercial company alliance aiming at driving market adoption of open source GIS in Korea. KAOS-G has now 10 member companies from diverse geospatial field. As a company alliance, KAOS-G is trying to capture these business chances in more commercial way by providing professional open source GIS solutions and technologies. KAOS-G hosted its own conference called ‘Open Source GIS Solution Day’ in 2013 to increase the awareness of commercial open source GIS solutions in Korea.
